Hex grid, rings or sunflower,
one click apart.
Change the layout, keep the work. A hexagonal grid packs the most open area, concentric rings echo a round driver, a Fibonacci spiral gives the sunflower look. Hole size, boundary and controllers carry over, so comparing layouts takes seconds instead of a CAD rebuild.
Fits your part,
not a square.
The boundary is part of the design. Clip the pattern to a circle, a rounded rectangle or your own outline, drawn in the editor or imported as SVG or DXF. Then decide what happens at the edge: keep holes by their center point, keep only complete holes, or clip them along the outline.
From pattern to part
in one export.
STEP means real geometry. Every hole comes out as exact 3D geometry at the thickness you set. Open it in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo or Rhino and cut it straight into your housing, no tracing and no redrawing. For very dense grilles, STP Split (Pro) exports the model in blocks so CAD stays responsive.

Frequently asked questions
Is the speaker grille generator free?
Yes. Every layout, controller and export format is free to use, with 3 exports per day shared across all formats. Pro removes the limit and unlocks STP Split, draft angle, shape morphing and the full preset library.
Can I control the open area of the grille?
Yes. The canvas shows the open area live: total hole area divided by the boundary area. Hole size, spacing and the gradient controllers all change it, so you can dial in a target while you watch the pattern.
Which CAD software opens the STEP file?
Any CAD that reads STEP (.stp): SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, CATIA, Inventor, Rhino, FreeCAD and more. Holes arrive as exact geometry, so a circle stays a true circle.
How do I put the grille on a curved housing?
Export SVG or DXF, flatten the curved surface in your CAD (in Creo that is Flatten Quilt), place the pattern on the flat, then map it back onto the surface. The spacing stays even across the curvature.
Can I use the grille in a commercial product?
Yes. Patterns you create with SolidVents are yours to use in commercial products and client work.
Do I need to install anything?
No. SolidVents runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on a computer or tablet. You can start without an account; signing in is only needed for Pro features such as the cloud repository.
Your grille is a few minutes away.
